We’re down to the final stretch, which brings excitement as well as serious anxiety! In the last 30 days we’ve:
Given 30 day notice to our downtown apartment
Sold our Mustang GT Convertible
Sold our 50” Plasma TV & Tivo
Turned in our official retirement papers
Moved Big Boy from storage to a nearby RV Park
Over the next 30 days we’ll be selling and donating our remaining furniture, then migrating our remaining clothing and food into Big Boy, and saying our goodbyes!!

Took some houseplants to the office, brought home some special items that I forever plan to keep.
Packed everything that wouldn’t be used in the next few weeks to take to Big Boy; ordinary stuff like qtips, paper towels, paper plates, spare deodorant.
Finally, dropped off another load at the Goodwill.

Giving away the last of our furniture and cleaning out the apartment this weekend, looks like everything will fit in Big Boy after all!
Next week we leave our comfortable RV park and head out to Sonoma for a NASCAR race, our last “vacation” from work and our 1st trip as actual residents of Big Boy.

After 3 days and several hundred dollars in equipment trying to get our HughesNet dish to talk to the satellite Steve gave up in frustration... We technically don’t need it til we get to Lake Sonoma so there’s no point stressing now, we’ll try again then.

Our file and media servers both run too hot to be inside cabinets as we planned and are going to end up sitting out on the counter after all, sigh.
Lots of little things to cause stress, but overall we know we’re on the right track!

Unbelievable! We had an awesome summer workcamp position lined up at an Army Corps of Engineer dam on the California coast months ago.
Back when we visited them in April to check out the site we were told they were going to pour a pad for the camp host site; but between then & now the pour project got delayed due to all the late rain Northern CA experienced this spring.
When we heard there was still no pad we offered to work the summer on gravel and at this point have them wait til fall to pour the pad. Unfortunately the pad's being poured with a federal grant that has to be spent this fiscal year so the decision was made to pour over the summer & go without their volunteer camp host.
Our summer budget is based our not having any RV park or diesel costs for July - Sept, which means now we must find a replacement summer camp host spot in the Western US!?!

Found another summer camp host position at the Laguna Seca Campground in Monterey County! I know nothing about this park, in Sonoma we drove down there and checked out the park and our camp host site in person, but given the short timeline we’re accepting this assignment sight unseen... A very brave move for us!

Just when we thought our plans were locked in we got ANOTHER great summer opportunity... This one a 12 site campground only 1 ½ hours away from Steve’s parents in Oregon! Unable to decide we will be driving up to Oregon the day after retirement to check it out before making a decision.
June 25, last day of work
Drove Big Boy over to a lunchtime BBQ behind our office followed by a happy hour down at the local pub. It was bitter sweet, lots of long time friends came to say goodbye, check out Big Boy in person and wish us luck.
I’m thrilled to be off the clock, to be done with meetings, and to be out from behind a desk. On the other hand I realized that for the 1st time in 32 years I’m unemployed and technically homeless.
