Driving Big Boy Home
After going to Red Bay Alabama to watch the build process we flew back to the dealer (Davis Motor Home Mart in Memphis, TN) to pick him up and drive him home.  When we left Red Bay he had not yet been painted so we were very curious to see how he would look “with clothes on”.  He did not disappoint, he’s beautiful!

Due to complications in financing we ended up spending our 1st night in Big Boy in the dealer’s lot, a great idea because it allowed us to check everything out and make a list of questions (the answer to most being user error) and get resolution before hitting the road.
Our 1st night away from Memphis was spent across the border in Mississippi at the Yogi Bear RV Park. Great place, easy pull through's!

Despite our best efforts we hit highway construction including those white cement barriers and very narrow lanes!  While it was stressful at the time, Steve drove through it without incident.
Day 2 we headed north, driving through Arkansas and stopping for the night at a Walmart/Sams Club in Missouri.  After shopping at Wally World we walked across the parking lot & took in a movie, life just doesn’t get better than that!
Big Boy's 1st fill up was at a Pilot. The auto/RV section sold unleaded only so we got to mingle with the big trucks. As it turned out we found it is actually much easier to fuel with the trucks anyway and ever since we pull into the truck side automatically.
Day 3 was cut short when our check engine light came on and we lost all oil pressure. Fortunately we were near an exit with a Truck Stop where we were able to spend the night.  Day 4 we went for a tow truck ride (I got to ride in the sleeper!) back to the Cummins facility in Kansas City.
The Cummins facility in Kansas City offered hookups for folks like us in their parking lot so we spent the weekend waiting for them to open and getting to know Big Boy better. We're still getting used to being "home" no matter where we are geographically.
5 days later we were back on the road.. We decided to spend the night in an RV park so we could empty tanks & do some laundry.  We found a nice park in Nebraska and stayed next to a 2006 Phaeton!!

From Nebraska we travelled west and stopped the next night at Little America in Wyoming, an awesome truck stop. BTW we love the inverter.. We were able to run everything from TV to microwave without starting the generator!
The final night on the road was spent at a Walmart in Nevada.  We had mixed feelings about returning to the stick and brick house... Big Boy had already become home to us.
